Yes, you’re probably tired of reading about this vehicle because almost every mention of it includes repeating the speech about Sonata being the very first fluidic-sculpted Hyundai to arrive and, therefore, starting a thorough renovation that finally gave global recognition to the Korean automaker. It was an impressive job, indeed, but it’s equally true that it gets old. However, the great news is that Hyundai not only noticed it too, as already started working hard on it. Not that it would simply stop collecting their golden eggs, of course. Instead, you’re about to meet what could be called Goose 2.0.

Depois de passar alguns meses sem ser importado ao Brasil, o sedã mais famoso da marca coreana retorna ao Brasil com levíssimos retoques. A antena de teto e as rodas de 18” foram trocadas, e vieram leves redesenhos para farois de xenônio e de neblina e lanternas, os dois últimos somando LEDs. Por dentro vieram ar-condicionado digital bizona e nova central multimídia, com tela de 7”, Bluetooth, câmera de ré e GPS. Ele mantém o 2.4 de 182 cv com câmbio automático de seis marchas, mas o preço caiu para R$ 105 mil.

Almost like Nissan has done with Leaf few months ago, Hyundai has only updated this version’s powertrain, for North America. The ecologic Sonata starts at US$ 25.650 and received bigger generator, more powerful electric engine and lithium-polymer battery. These changes increased the electric power in 14 hp (reaching 46 hp), while the new battery is lighter and takes less space, resulting on a 12.1-cu-ft trunk. They also enable longer life for the all-electric mode and better final consumption, reaching 38 mpg.

Categoria de carro bem-recebida no Brasil é a de sedãs. Na Europa eles só fazem sucesso nos níveis mais caros, enquanto em países como Argentina e Turquia sucessos de vendas são sedãs compactos. Já por aqui eles vendem tão bem que existem compacto (Chevrolet Prisma), premium (VW Polo Sedan), médio-pequeno (Peugeot 408), médio-grande e luxo (Audi A6). E é na penúltima categoria que o Sonata quer entrar, para roubar vendas de Ford Fusion e Chevrolet Malibu.
