Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2016

Toyota Land Cruiser 2016

Click to view in high resolutionOh, the Land Cruiser. One of the oldest car nameplates still in mass production. An automobile as praised and respected in Japan as Willys CJ in North America. Besides all that, a product capable of catching up with all the tendencies established in this industry while retaining the same character which built its reputation decades ago. At a first sight, one can easily think this is nothing but another full-size SUV, which is sold for an amount of money as large as most of its characteristics. However, the truth is Toyota managed to make Land Cruiser a timeless car in a wonderful sense of the expression.

Lexus LX 2016

Click to view in high resolutionFull-size luxury SUVs are such a small market that it’s easy to understand how tough is their life. Their high prices retrieve profit margins interesting enough for many companies but, as with any other high-end category, factors such as the image of the manufacturer or the design of the car outweigh rationalities like cost-to-benefit. The aforementioned small sales volume only magnifies those barriers. Therefore, when an automaker manages to get its piece of the cake, it’s more important to retain it than to frown upon how small it might be. This seems to be the spirit in which Lexus’ biggest model was updated for the new year.

Lexus GS 2016

Click to view in high resolutionAutomotive markets have become so competitive that no manufacturer is truly “safe” in them. The bigger ones, for instance, might look like they have all figured out, but the truth is they’re always defending themselves not only from one another, but also from the smaller ones. After all, the latter are just as hungry for buyers, but don’t worry with traditions yet. The result is the appearance of models such as Nissan Qashqai, whose subversion of the current market rules ends pleasing people more than they could have imagined. One can say this article’s sedan is Lexus’ attempt to perform a similar process in the luxury section of this market.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé 2

Click to view in high resolutionIf car segments were members of a big family, coupés would be those who stay in the shadow of their siblings. People who want a charming car often go to cabriolets. Practical buyers prefer sedans. Performance-seekers will only take coupés in sporty variations. And, more recently, coupés can't even get the undecided: their four-door brothers are increasingly eager to snatch those folks. Mercedes-Benz sells at least one of each of those. However, like in most families, coupés only need a moment of your undivided attention to show at what are they good. When someone does that, the results are usually breathtaking.

Mercedes-Benz S 63 760 Brabus

GMC Sierra 2016

Click to view the Denali versionRight after Silverado, GMC’s light-duty pickup was updated itself. However, instead of a small facelift, Sierra had only some tweaks. The front fascia received LEDs for both the DRLs and the fog lights, and there’s a new 21” style for the wheels. Inside, the IntelliLink infotainment system received the Apple CarPlay function for phone-mirroring. There are also more equipments dedicated to safety, and the optional eight-speed automatic transmission is offered in more trim levels. With everything else unchanged, the new GMC Sierra will go on sale in North America in the fourth quarter of this year.

Chevrolet Silverado 2016

Click to view in high resolutionAfter only two years, Silverado gets its first partial update. The front end brings smaller lights, a more aerodynamic bumper, and new upper and lower grilles, everything with much less chrome. Other interesting news regard the item list, which was increased with new technologies and support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Everything else remained unchanged, with only two exceptions: it’s still a secret whether Chevrolet has changed the truck’s rear as well, since it hasn’t appeared in official pictures yet. Besides that, the eight-speed automatic transmission had its availability increased.

RAM 3500 2016

Click to view in high resolutionWhile urban automobiles compete mostly in emotional aspects, such as design or performance, pick-up trucks take their affairs to numbers. The midsize model of RAM’s heavy-duty lineup now features both the highest payload and the highest towing rates: impressive 7,390 lb using the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, and breathtaking 31,210 lb with the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel. These figures were reached by reinforcing the rear axle, strenghtening the differential’s case, and tweaking the latter engine: recalibrated fuel delivery and turbo boost added 35 lb-ft, taking its torque to another superlative number: 900 lb-ft.

Jaguar XJ 2016

Click to view in high resolutionSix years ago, this sedan received a whole new generation, and the mission of initiating a whole new chapter of its maker’s history. Sure, the first subversive Jaguar was XF, released one year earlier, but XJ deals with the wealthiest buyers, who can be conservative enough to make its job much harder. But the results couldn’t have been better. Along with Land Rover, the British company is establishing an entire luxury lineup of its own, enjoying huge acclaim vehicle after vehicle. In such awesome context, it was possible to make XJ’s update an opportunity to take its new values to a new level.

BMW 7-Series 6

Click to view in high resolutionOver the past decades, the Bavarian company has maintained a rather impressive conceptual competition with its archenemy Mercedes-Benz. While they’re always at the same level in rational aspects, the emotional ones show a diametrical opposition. This is actually one of the reasons why each one’s cars are so alike; think of them as members of the same team. These companies have done a great job being faithful to their respective values, but there have been several exceptions as well. Vehicles such as the sedan you’re about to meet only make it easier for that duel to keep catching your eye.

GMC Yukon 2016

Click to view Yukon XL DenaliTwo years after receiving an all-new generation, GMC’s biggest SUVs get prepared for the next year by increasing the equipment list. The optional Enhanced Driver Alert package brings lane-keeping assist and auto high beams to Yukon’s previous “electronic safety” kit – optional for the SLE trim and standard for SLT and Denali – as well as improved towing sensors. The latter two also offer a White Frost Tricoat and standard foot-sensing tailgate, while all models also get capless refueling. There are also two new designs for the 22” wheels, increasing a list that was already at six.

Volkswagen Phaeton 2016

Volkswagen Phaeton 2016After having prospered in China almost as much as it has failed in pretty much everywhere else, VW’s luxury sedan receives what must be its last update before a new generation. Only for the Chinese market, there will be retouched bi-xenon headlights and LED tail lights, new wooden options for the internal tirm, Dynaudio audio system with 12-channel amplifier, and two 10.2” screens for the rear passengers. Phaeton uses three naturally-aspirated engines: the 3.0-liter V6 delivers 250 hp and 31.6 kgfm, the 3.6-liter V6 offers 280 hp and 37.7 kgfm, and the 4.2-liter reaches 335 hp and 43.8 kgfm.

Chevrolet Camaro 6

Click to view in high resolutionCan you believe the modern-day Camaro was presented for the first time nine years ago? And only three years later, its production version was stealing all the attention, even among those who just wanted to watch that Transformers movie. Well, that car has done a wonderful job ever since. Not only did it manage to sell surprisingly well even at countries that never had it before, it also outsold its archenemy Ford Mustang in the US. However, GM had to update it again sometime, but no longer with all those edges. The solution was to make a great product even better… so that’s what it did.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class 2016

Click to view in high resolutionG-Class has become so iconic that people actually like its old-fashioned styling, specially in a world dominated by crossovers. That’s why Mercedes only gave it some nips and tucks now, like retouched bumpers and spoilers, and new wheels. More important news is the adoption of a twin-turbo, 4.0 V8 for G 500, good for 422 hp and 62 kgfm, and a diesel-burner 2.1-liter for G 350 d, which reaches 245 hp and 61,1 kgfm. Regarding the AMGs, G 63 goes to 571 hp and G 65 to 630 hp and 101.6 kgfm. There’s also the AMG Edition 463, with two-tone internal trim, Nappa seats, 21” wheels and carbon-fiber inserts.

McLaren 570S

McLaren 570SWhen you ask people about McLaren, their first thoughts will be related to racing. After all, this company has spent decades building a very strong reputation at that world. But the situation is different when it comes to the streets. In this case, most people will have a very fuzzy, distorted image of it, which is not exactly better than not remembering of it at all. In order to revert this situation, along with giving a little raise to the cash flow, the British automaker has started to invest in – slightly – more mundane vehicles. This article will introduce you to the very first of those.

Mercedes-Benz GLE

Click to view in high resolutionDo you remember how German automakers fractionate the release of a new car? Special trim levels, multiple body variations… each one gets its own event. They usually start with the most important ones, but only because the real reason behind this is to get more attention. However, there are times when the same purpose needs a different way to be achieved. Mercedes released the brand new GLE lineup starting with the Coupé, some months ago, and only now moved to the main model. But if you have good memory, you’ll understand what was done just by looking at the pictures.

Morgan Aero 8 2

Morgan Aero 8 2015In a world whose competitiveness is growing rapidly enough to force car makers to join forces more frequently than ever, United Kingdom accounts for an interesting exception. This region takes pride on keeping a large number of small-scale companies. They’re largely dedicated to sports cars, and most of them are known only by true car enthusiasts. On the other hand, they offer a level of attention and quality that simply can’t be repeated when you are a conventional manufacturer. One of the oldest members of such prestigious group is Morgan, whose latest creation you’re just about to meet.

Koenigsegg Regera

Click to view in high resolutionImagine that you’ve just achieved something for which you’ve been working for a long time. A very important goal, such as founding a company, having a child, or writing a book. The very first wish you have right after is to simply enjoy that, right? Spend some time contemplating how far you’ve just gone before even thinking of what to do next. Well, even though there are many, many people who think just like you, there are others who are strong exceptions to that, and take pride on it. This article’s vehicle is the latest proof that Christian von Koenigsegg clearly belongs to the latter group.
