Chevrolet Montana 2016

Se quando ela era vendida ao lado do Agile já não recebia alterações grandes, não é de se estranhar que a Montana vire mais um ano quase inalterada. Para a linha 2016, a picape compacta ganha a nova cor cinza Graphite, revestimento de bancos renovado na versão básica LS, e novos acessórios: capa automotiva, tapete de E.V.A. para a caçamba, e um suporte de bicicleta, que acomoda aros 20” a 29” dispensando furações e parafusos. De resto, as variações continuam sendo LS e Sport, com as respectivas listas de equipamentos de série, o motor é o 1.4 de até 99 cv e 13 kgfm, e o câmbio é manual de cinco marchas.

In nowadays, it’s impossible to read news about the automotive world without going through some particular terms. Global projects, modular platforms, emergent markets… Globalization hit this industry as hard as any other, so all manufacturers now work with all countries at once. Well, all globalized manufacturers and all globalized countries. Iran’s economic and political situation makes it a very distinct nation, and this is naturally reflected in the vehicles that fill its roads. The Iranian market already had lots of great examples for this, but Iran Khodro has just released one capable of taking those differences to the next level.

GMC Canyon 2016

While Colorado had several minor tweaks as well, GMC’s compact pickup stuck with the main novelty for the new year: a diesel engine. The turbocharged 2.8-liter delivers 181 hp of power and 369 lb-ft of torque, and composes a new option to the gasoline-burners 2.5 (200 hp) and 3.5 V6 (306 hp). It comes only with crew cab, but with RWD or AWD. Other additions are a balance shaft, ceramic grow plugs, cooled exhaust-gas recirculation, new springs and dampers designed to reduce vibrations even more, and the Apple CarPlay function to the IntelliLink infotainment system. When using the new engine, GMC Canyon starts at US$ 34,875.

Chevrolet Colorado 2016

Some years ago, the compact pickup category in North America was left entirely to Toyota Tacoma, because the Big Three no longer found it competitive. However, GM was the first one to change that, and now collects the benefits of it: Colorado became a success, and is about to make things even better in its second year of production under the new generation: you can take it with a diesel engine too, a turbocharged 2.8 good for 181 hp and 369 lb-ft. It’ll come only with crew cab, but accepts RWD or AWD. Besides, it received the same equipments as the luxury sister GMC Canyon, and the nice trim levels you’re just about to meet.

GMC Sierra 2016

Right after Silverado, GMC’s light-duty pickup was updated itself. However, instead of a small facelift, Sierra had only some tweaks. The front fascia received LEDs for both the DRLs and the fog lights, and there’s a new 21” style for the wheels. Inside, the IntelliLink infotainment system received the Apple CarPlay function for phone-mirroring. There are also more equipments dedicated to safety, and the optional eight-speed automatic transmission is offered in more trim levels. With everything else unchanged, the new GMC Sierra will go on sale in North America in the fourth quarter of this year.

Mazda BT-50 2016

After the facelift Ford gave Ranger a few months ago, it’s time for its Japanese sibling to do the same. BT-50 looks as extravagant as ever, but now using darkened headlights, and a new chrome arch surrounding the main grille. The rear fascia, according to unofficial information, features darker lights as well. Inside, Mazda claims to have improved the overall quality, and added backup camera and the MZD infotainment system. Once again, the turbo-diesel engines are a 2.2 good for 160 hp and 39.3 kgfm, and a 3.2 capable of 200 hp and 47.9 kgfm. This pick-up should go on sale in Eastern countries soon.

Chevrolet Silverado 2016

After only two years, Silverado gets its first partial update. The front end brings smaller lights, a more aerodynamic bumper, and new upper and lower grilles, everything with much less chrome. Other interesting news regard the item list, which was increased with new technologies and support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Everything else remained unchanged, with only two exceptions: it’s still a secret whether Chevrolet has changed the truck’s rear as well, since it hasn’t appeared in official pictures yet. Besides that, the eight-speed automatic transmission had its availability increased.

Chevrolet S10 2016

RAM 3500 2016

While urban automobiles compete mostly in emotional aspects, such as design or performance, pick-up trucks take their affairs to numbers. The midsize model of RAM’s heavy-duty lineup now features both the highest payload and the highest towing rates: impressive 7,390 lb using the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, and breathtaking 31,210 lb with the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel. These figures were reached by reinforcing the rear axle, strenghtening the differential’s case, and tweaking the latter engine: recalibrated fuel delivery and turbo boost added 35 lb-ft, taking its torque to another superlative number: 900 lb-ft.

Toyota Hilux 8

Ten years ago, Hilux was given a brand new generation that couldn’t be defined as simply as “different”; it was subversive enough to risk Toyota’s reputation in this category. But the Japanese knew they were on the right path: that model followed pretty much every automotive tendency of that time, and even conservative buyers were already on the verge of accepting them, so the shot was as long as worthwhile. Fiat Strada 2016

A versão Adventure, com cabines estendida e dupla, traz de série retrovisores elétricos, sensor de estacionamento, sistema de áudio com entrada USB, volante em couro, e capota marítima – a empresa define uma economia de 40% comparando com quando estes itens eram opcionais. Além disso, a Strada adiciona porta-óculos para o motorista em todas as versões, e continua a oferecer uma extensa linha de acessórios da Mopar. Seus preços iniciais vão de R$ 40.980 a R$ 65.870.

Mitsubishi L200 Triton 2015

Uma das novidades do fabricante japonês para sua picape média é a série especial Off, criada em parceria com o canal de televisão de mesmo nome. Ela terá apenas duzentas unidades, todas na cor Orange Sunshine. Baseada na versão Savana, a picape custa R$ 128.990 e se diferencia por trazer bancos com capas de neoprene bordadas, plaqueta de identificação no porta-luvas, rodas na cor grafite, e logotipos alusivos. Também vêm chaveiro e garrafa de aço inox e um cooler personalizados, este último da marca Ogio. Em todo o resto, o modelo é igual à L200 Triton Savana regular.

Volkswagen Amarok 2015

Assim como nos anos anteriores, a picape média mantém o visual inalterado, mas ganha mais equipamentos. Agora, dependendo da versão, vêm ajuste lombar para os bancos dianteiros, assistentes para subidas e descidas, câmera de ré, controle de estabilidade, farois de neblina com função de auxílio em curvas, luz traseira de neblina, e ajuste elétrico da altura do facho dos farois. Em paralelo, a edição Dark Label terá mil unidades vendidas a R$ 140.000. Todo o demais permanece inalterado, incluindo as versões e o motor: o 2.0 TDI gera 140 cv e 34,7 kgfm com um turbo e 180 cv e 40,8 kgfm com dois.

Ford Ranger 2016

Gone are the times when selling pick-up trucks was easy. Until the 1990s, there were few competitors made by few companies, and all of them were restricted to hard work. Since they weren’t concerned with style or luxury, they spent years receiving mostly mechanical updates, and it was more than enough to keep everyone happy. However, ever since they were made fashionable, making money with them started to require the very same worries brought by coupés or crossovers. The new Ranger proves that not even the automaker which sells the F-Series can afford not to deal with those.

Nissan Titan 2

In times when the average lifecycle of an automobile in the market is decreasing as you read this page, Titan’s case results quite interesting, if not surprising. In an attempt to reduce costs and increase competitiveness, the Japanese automaker considered developing its new generation from the current RAM lineup, but such partnership was never officialized. The solution ended being an in-house project, but now with the additional pressure of all that lost time. The result is finally here, but it’s impossible not to wonder: does the new Titan have what it takes to make up for five years?

Toyota Tacoma 2016

Acquiring experience with how does the automotive world work allows to predict what a given company might do with each of the products it currently offers, because every single move they take is very carefully planned. When it comes to car ageing, there are some “indicators” to which one can pay attention, in order to place a good bet on for how long will a given automobile keep being produced. While in most cases these indicators tend to contradict one another, Toyota’s midsize pick-up is actually one of the rare exceptions where everything seems to speak in unison.

Mitsubishi L200 5

Even though the biggest automakers are investing increasingly more in global production, the car world will always make some associations between countries and groups of models. Italy, for instance, always comes to mind when the topic is sports cars. France is the home of fancy and stylish models. Big SUVs take you to the US. Compact cars lead to think of Japan, and so forth. During the past few years, this team was joined by Thailand, due to all the pick-ups that have been developed and/or released there. After Chevrolet S10, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier, now you’re about to meet Mitsubishi’s turn.

Toyota Hilux e SW4 2015

Para o SUV, a maior novidade foi completar sete ocupantes, na versão SR que custa R$ 122.280 – as mais caras somam revestimento interno em preto, em opção ao bege. Já a picape ganhou a SRV Flex, com tração 4x2, câmbio automático (quatro marchas), motor 2.7 de 163 cv e preço R$ 99.990. Mas ela chama mais atenção para a Limited Edition, que estreou no Salão do Automóvel: suas três mil unidades contam com adesivos externos, rodas de liga leve em preto fosco, tapetes exclusivos e uma série de acessórios de concessionária, como santantônio e protetor dianteiro. Por R$ 155.650, ela traz motor 3.0 turbodiesel, câmbio automático e tração integral.

Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label

Depois de estrear na Europa no ano passado, a edição especial da Amarok chegou ao Brasil durante o Salão do Automóvel. Tomando como base a versão Trendline, ela se destaca por trazer revestimento interno em Alcantara, rodas de liga leve aro 17” exclusivas, sensores de estacionamento, tapetes de veludo, volante multifuncional e os adesivos alusivos no exterior. Todo o demais repetiu a oferta da versão regular, o que inclui o resto da lista de equipamentos e o trem-de-força: está lá o 2.0 biturbo movido a diesel com 180 cv, o câmbio automático de oito marchas e a tração integral 4Motion.

Volkswagen Saveiro Surf

Inspirada na edição de 2003, a Volkswagen volta a oferecer uma Saveiro Surf. O modelo esteve exposto no último Salão do Automóvel, e tem apelo bastante jovial. Sempre com cabine simples, ele se diferencia por grade dianteira tipo colmeia, detalhes externos prateados, logotipos alusivos, rack de teto, rodas de liga leve exclusivas e seção inferior em plástico preto. Outros equipamentos de série são ar-condicionado, bancos de couro, capota marítima e sensor de estacionamento. A Saveiro Surf usa o 1.6 de 104 cv com câmbio manual de cinco marchas, e ainda não teve o preço definido.
